you could try wearing a old t-shirt to get your scent on it then put into her bed plus leave a radio on so she can hear some thing plenty of toys and the kong is hours of fun. i learned all this from rescue pups and dogs i had to get advice because they would howl through the night, or find the kitchen distroyed if i went out

If you're local to Galway City I carry the Luath's and Robbie's pet foods. I usually have samples they can try before deciding on chicken or lamb as the protein source. I'm located in Kilcolgan (next to Mother Hubbards) so if that convenient to you, visit my website for hours and direction.
Thanks Tara for such a great answer. I know that will work like a charm. Source(s): http://www.tailwaggers.ie |

Hi,
Firstly if this is an out of the blue behaviour then you need to have a full health check done as she could have some underlying medical conditions presenting. Secondly your Cavalier may need a change in diet and an area of confinement until you have her house trained. You can use a play pen or exercise pen if you worry that she will not take to a crate. The pen should not be large enough that she can poop and pee inside but not too small that she cannot comfortably lie down. Gradually get her used to the pen by putting her in for small periods of time and always rewarding her. You will need to check the ingredients on her dog food. If there are animal derivatives, cereals, preservatives then change to a holistic diet such as Luath or Robbies by George Burns www.landofholisticpets.com This food has no additives or bulking agents and will produce less waste. Plus it is far better for your dog and will help with the anxiety. Use DAP spray before leaving the house or get some Kalm Aid to help her deal with any anxiety problems she has. Separation Anxiety does need professional help so plesae do contact us if you need further assistance. Finally with her being a Cavalier I feel it would be appropriate for you to get a good health check to include a blood panel if your vet feels this is necessary. I hope this helps. I just wonder if you could carefully introduce her to a crate, not lock her in, just place her bed and toys in it and over the weeks get her to accept this as her domain. Eventually you would be able to leave her in it with toys, kong treats etc. She would be very unlikely to soil in her own little house!!
How often is she left for a long spell?? |
