Medicine can be administered directly to the lungs using some sort of vapouriser that was recently invented in Ireland for humans for asmatics , etc.
I know a lady that runs a horse riding school And use'es it on the horses to clear infections and germs . |

I'm sorry to hear about you dog. Unfortunately this is an irreversible progressive condition that needs to be managed. I think it would be a good idea to have a chest x-ray/scan to ensure there are no other problems at the same time that might be affecting treatment. All the advice which has been given so far I would agree with.
From a veterinary point of view, the meds most commonly used to help these compromised lungs would be bronchodilators, anticholinergics and steroid medication. You can now also get inhalers for dogs with the meds in them which you might find useful. I'm not sure what meds he is on at the moment . I hope this helps! |

Before starting I should state that this is really a medical question and that my answer is not a medical one.
You should look at this from a holistic point of view. You need to address the following aspects: Environment Make sure the environment is appropriate for your dog. Select cleaners and avoid sprays such as air fresheners etc. It is vital that you don't expose your dog to any tobacco smoke and try to keep the home aired as much as possible. The dog should be a house dog and not left out in weather or exposed to the elements too much. Diet Make sure your dog is on an excellent diet. This does not always mean a vet diet. You will see that I reference Luath and Robbies a lot in my posts. This is because the food is holistic with excellent ingredients plus it is reasonably priced. See www,landofholisticpets.com for more info. You should email them and ask if they have any supplements or if you would need supplements if you were to change your dog to that diet. Equipment Never use any choking types of collars or harnesses that cause discomfort around the neck area. There are many padded and soft harnesses out there and if pulling is an issue then get a SENSE-ible front connection harness. Finally if the condition worsens ask your vet to be referred to UCD for further consultation or speak with your vet about extra things you can do to keep your dog comfortable. Good luck.
