Hi,
I have been asked this question and many more by a lot of my clients. Please take a look on my website. I have lots of eBooks on there for £2 each. They cover so many of the problems posted on here and many more. Many thanks and hope they help you. Love Gina's answer because that's exactly what I would recommend. One thing I could also suggest is putting essential oils in a spray bottle of water and spraying the carpet in the areas they like to scratch. Only 3-4 drops in a litre of water would do. Can't make it too strong as some oils are toxic to cats like Roman Chamomile. I'd say any citrus oils, lavender, or even eucalyptus would do the trick. A lovely combination is peppermint and rosemary. It's so earthy and refreshing. Great for Spring!

Make sure that she has plenty of places that are appropriate for clawing herself. This is a natural way that cats exercise their paws so they need a place that they are allowed to do it. A cat tree, a scratching post, etc. There are even scratchers made of cardboard and laced with catnip that many cats enjoy clawing on. When you catch her clawing on the carpet , pick her up and show her the scratching post and remind her where it's OK to do it. You can also try keeping her claws trimmed which will minimise any damage she can do. Best of luck :)
