Hello everyone, didn't come across any rottweiler groups so decided to start my own. Rottweilers have a bad name, but most I've met are big softies, esp. my own one Tyson. Please join my group and add pictures of your own rotties.
Ah poor little guy. I hope he finds a nice new home. There are so manu dangers out there for cats.
Do yu live in Drogheda or close by? I live in Collon and didn't know there was anyone from this area on this forum.
So far so good! The dogs arrived last night and have settled in really well. They both have a very sweet nature and are real 'people' dogs. My husband and I think they are beautiful; I don't think our cats feel the same way just yet!
T
hree of our cats have scarpered upstairs and don't want to come down. I have the dogs away from the cats for the moment so they can just sniff each other under the doors. Our moggy is the only brave one and has gone to sniff them.
The dogs have been together since they were puppies so I completely understand now that you could not separate them. They adore each other. They arrived last night very dirty and matted so I will be bringing them to the groomer in Petmania, Drogheda tomorrow morning to de-mat and freshen them up. They really stink! Has anyone had any experience with this groomer?
When they are a bit more respectable I will post some pictures.
Hi Barbara, I would love to see more events being added. Even ones that members themselves could organise etc. Here are a few more that I can think of:
. Special offers for pet products etc. Good petshops and things like that.
. More forum topics covered. Information on lung worm, fleas etc. and how best to treat
. More competitions!
. More dalk walking groups.
. E-mailed newsletters. I signed up but have never received one. When I typed newsletter into the search engine the most recent one that came up was from November.
These are the ones I can think of for now, if I think of any more I'll write them in later. Hope this helps!
Can I recommend a book called "Cooking for your Dog" by Ingeborg Pils.
ISBN 978-1-4054-9513-4 Parragon Books RRP £7.99
It has about 30 recipies in it, including dog biscuits, pizza, rice pudding and even a doggie birthday cake. Also has recipies for digestion, constipation, wind, weight control, glossy coat and fresh breath.
That's shocking, glad he's ok but just shows you how easily accidents like that happen. I'll be keeping bbq sticks well away from Daisy. Thanks for sharing
Hi everyone, I know this was posted ages ago but I thought I would let you know about my service of Cat sitting or cat boarding. You can visit my site www.yourpetsbestfriend.eu
The service allows you to leave you cat in his or her own surrounding ensuring that your cat has the least amount of upset possible. I visit your home one or two times a day to feed, play and provide loads of love and cuddles.
The other option is that if you are heading away for a long period that I can home your cat to ensure that he or she has plenty of attention and love and doesnt get lonely.
You say your husband is on shift. Does that mean he will have much time to give to the cats and dogs? If he is on constant night shifts he may find the dogs irritating if they take a long time to settle. It might be too much for you both to take on- dogs cats and each others....
Just bringing peoples attention to the danger of BBQ skewer sticks and pets. I help out at Drogheda animal rescue centre and we have had a cat in with a BBQ skewer through his upper jaw and into his eye. The poor fella has had to go through a tough time with an operation to remove his eye and allot of TLC to encourage him to eat again. Please warn people to make sure to bin their skewers etc carefully to avoid this in future.
On a good note, he is doing well and is seeking a home which im sure he wont be waiting long
Thanks a million.

D-spot Just got a new Foster kitten, poor thing had his leg amputated. Ill post photo later :-)
ideally i would foster the dog you were interested in because if the dog does not like the cats you can give back easier.
both breeds are great family dogs both are generally very good with kids. the bichon will need need grooming as will the other dog not as much though.
my experience of bichons is they are very yappy but friendly and i totally love the king charles but i am biased as i love all spaniels.
when you are adopting a dog it can take any thing from 3 weeks up to several months for them to settle in. getting a new dog you really need to take time off to settle them in and get them used to your routine. adopting both might be hard work do these two dogs like each other have they met. where i foster they say an adult dog should not be left longer than 5 hours on its own. hope this is helpful if not maybe some else might be able to help more.
if you do adopt both love to hear how things go. p.s buy kongs and fill them for when you are at work you can freeze them hours of enjoyment
I have a little dilemma. I wrote the post about the Louth SPCA and how badly we were treated but we have since found two lovely dogs looking for a new home with the CDPA. One is a bichon frise and the other is a King Charles Spaniel. They are both used to cats (we have 4) and need to be rehomed tomorrow.
If we are to go ahead would we be taking on too much? Both my husband and I work full time but he works shift so our animals are not left alone for long throughout the day.
The dogs would be walked 2/3 times a day and would be allowed indoors to sleep. We love animals and have no children and financially we would be ok.
I am worried that we would have too much on our plates and also if one of them attacked one of the cats it would be a disaster. Would this be a possibility do you think?
Oh decisions decisions......!
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
PS I have also posted this to the doggie chat forum as well.
