This is Zip who was rescued by Petchums.com member Lilyan and we wanted to share their story with you. His tale highlights the love and compassion felt by a complete stranger and includes a happy ending and a very happy dog. Great Job Lilyan!

Story as told by Lilyan: Zip is yet another pup abandoned by someone near my home. I was walking my own two dogs when we heard really sad barking coming from the flooded area near my home. It was really dark and I could not see the dog. We waded over and I searched for the noise. I eventually saw the poor mite stuck in the mud so I got as close as possible to him and managed to grab him by he scruff of the neck. He was shivering, covered in mud and with his little heart thumping. The first thing he did was lick me all over! He knew I had rescued him. When I brought him home I put him into the shower to discover what he looked like, again being licked all over. He immediately made friends with Sancho and Lia,although they weren't too pleased for a while!

I searched for an owner and contacted local radio stations, gardaí and the GSPCA but no luck. He eventually became known as 'Pup',and even answered to this name! At that stage I knew he had to find a
forever home! I would have loved to keep him, but with two older dogs and a new baby it wouldn't have been fair on him. He is now a very happy pup with a three year old little boy as his new best friend. Every pup needs a boy! I have called to see him a few times since and he has a great welcome every time. Although he is still afraid of the dark ,he has forgiven the human that left him there. Dogs live in the moment.
