You would be forgiven for mistaking this creature for a tiger; it is in fact a dog! Yes China has gone to the dogs as the latest craze to take over the nation involves dying their beloved pets to make them look like other animals.

Pet owners are whisking their pets to the local groomer faster than you can say the word woof! Instead of the usual shampoo and comb its multi-coloured dye jobs on the menu. In recent years pets have become hugely popular with records showing a 500% increase in pet spending from 1999 - 2008. With all sorts of crazy requests for panda's and tigers it's a good thing China has drafted its first law on animal protection this week. Anyone guilty of animal cruelty can be fined up to $877 and two weeks in prison. Let's hope they don't take to tattooing!
