Controversy As Cesar Millan Due To Arrive In Dublin

Cesar Millan, also known as the TV sensation 'The Dog Whisper' will be taking his live tour to both Belfast and Dublin this March. The Dog Whisperer franchise has gained huge popularity but now controversy over his training methods is dividing dog lovers all over the world. Many canine experts have suggested that his use of choke, electronic shock collars and physical/mental force leaves the animal with no other choice but to submit. In some cases this type of training can actually increase a dog's nervousness and fears making them even more aggressive.

Pet behaviour/training TV programmes are more popular than ever and business is in fact booming. In the end it comes down to personal choice on whom you listen to and learn from but I don't agree with the majority of his training methods and the quick fix approach he encourages people to seek. I believe that Cesar is a true dog lover and wants to help people. His skills in calming aggressive dogs that might otherwise be put to sleep is something to be admired. I would like to end this discussion by saying I do believe his show has educated dog owners more and encourages them to ask for professional help and advice. At least that's a step in the right direction.
